(Assuming they were in public, with people around)

If you weigh the pros and cons of the situation, he did the right thing. He was put in a dangerous situation, and he took action while he could’ve just let the worst happen. With two armed men trying to hijack his car, while he was with his girlfriend, he took the keys and ran to call for help. True, he shouldn’t have left his girlfriend alone with two dangerous men, but the outcome if he didn’t could have been worse. What if he didn’t jump out? What if he drove the hijackers where they needed to go? Chances are the hijackers would have hurt him and his girlfriend either way and also they would have had the satisfaction of successfully hijacking a car. However, by taking the keys, and running away, he not only took the key to what they wanted, but also surprised the hijackers. The hijackers were not thinking that he was going to jump out, and clearly weren’t going to use their weapons to stop him; the weapons were just to appear threatening. If they were in public they couldn’t harm the girl because there would have been witnesses; plus they didn’t want the girl, they wanted the car. Chances were that the hijackers would be thinking of an easy way out, because harming the girl would have gotten them no where because they didn’t have keys. The only thing that makes his decision wrong is because he left his girlfriend, but it was for the better of the situation. They are both lucky that no one was hurt, and nothing stolen.
